Biographical Sketch for Pastor Robert L. Jones
 
Rev. Robert Jones has always found ways to link his passion for humanity with his strong Christian beliefs.  Pastor Jones began his journey in ministry in Oakland, CA in 1990 under the leadership of Bishop Warner H. Brown, Jr at Taylor Memorial UMC.  He has been appointed as the Pastor of Oak Park, Centennial (Associate), Citrus Heights, Florin and now Hope United Methodist Churches in Sacramento, California.  

Rev. Jones believes that “it is important that our lives reflect our faith and relationship with God.”  We do not do this by standing on the sidelines waiting for others to do what WE are called to do.”  He is committed to social justice and empowering challenged communities throughout California.  He has dedicated his life to God and to responding to the needs of the underprivileged and underserved communities.  Rev. Jones is an advocate committed to addressing the civil rights issues of today and encourages others through his ministry to do the same.

In 2005 Rev. Jones accepted the positions of President and CEO of the California Association of Black Pastors (CABP).  Rev. Jones has directed CABPs’ efforts to focus on empowering urban communities through education, empowerment and advocacy.  CABP has been instrumental in providing training and other resources to empower disadvantaged communities throughout California.

​Rev. Jones is a visionary leader who sees the benefit of collaborating with diverse community and faith-based organizations to elevate conditions for the most vulnerable of our society.  Under his leadership CABP has concentrated their efforts on education, health and wellness, economic development and empowerment; and policy and advocacy.  CABP is committed to support the efforts of its partners throughout the state that are committed to improving the quality of life for all challenged communities.

Rev. Jones has served the following United Methodist Churches in the California-Nevada Conference:  Oak Park, Centennial, and Citrus Heights.  He currently serves the Florin and Hope United Methodist Churches.  He is also the Circuit Leader for the Resurrection Circuit in the Los Rios District.  
Rev. Jones received his education at the Pacific School of Religion and Claremont Theological
Seminary.  He has been married to Darnella Davis have been married for more than 30 years.  He is the proud father of a daughter, Cynetta and son Isaiah. He makes his home in Sacramento California.
