We are please to present our keynote speaker for Connect & Learn Rev. Jorge Luiz F. Domingues is an ordained elder of the California-Nevada Annual Conference of the UMC, serving as Executive Director of Connectional Ministries since July 2018. A native of Brazil, he was ordained with the Methodist Church in Brazil in January 1988. In 2020, Rev. Domingues transferred his clergy membership from Brazil to California-Nevada Conference. In January 1996, he moved to New York with his family to work for the General Board of Global Ministries. He served the agency for 22 years in multiple capacities, including as Deputy General Secretary and 10 years as a cabinet member. During that time, he led several departments of the agency, such as Mission Education, Mission Service and Mission Volunteers. He obtained his undergraduate and Theological degrees in Brazil, as well as a master’s degree in Sociology with the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. In the United States, he obtained two additional master’s degrees: Public Administration and International Public Policy with NYU. After leaving Global Ministries in 2016, he spent a sabbatical year studying and working with migrants in New York, England, and Italy. He attended six General Conferences of the UMC, served on the Standing Committee on Central Conference Matters, and was a member of the World Council of Churches’ Central Committee and delegate to their assemblies. He is a board member of Encounter with Christ in Latin America and the Caribbean, and the World Student Christian Federation US Trustees. He is married to the Rev. Rosângela Oliveira who retired as the Executive Director of the World Day of Prayer International Committee.
In addition, a brief overview on the different leadership positions will be presented by your UWF Los Rios team. There will be an opportunity over lunch to sit with members of the UWF Leadership Team and ask any questions you may have about the positions.
